Music by Brunelli, Galilei, Caccini and Kapsberger

The guiding principle of this program is the birth of monody in Tuscany between the end of the fifteenth and the early sixteenth century. The programme brings together with the most well-known Giulio Caccini, Vincenzo and Michelangelo Galilei, respectively the father and the brother of the famous scientist. These composers, reunited with others in the renowned “Camerata de’ Bardi”, developed in Tuscany that new relationship between text and music which, through the “recitar cantando”, would create and then develop the musical theater.
